Things Tied To The Tops of Cars Posted August 31, 2010 by Dangerous Dave

I don't know what made me think of this.  Maybe it was a combination of the drive home and the fact that I was having trouble coming up with an idea for my blog.

Have you ever been driving along and all of a sudden a car passes you with entirely too many things tied to it's roof?  Or, an object that would probably be better moved using some kind of truck?

Well, I did a Google image search and these are some photos I came up with.

And finally, I thought we should also include a video.  I just typed in moving fail into YouTube and here's what I got.

Late Night Noises Posted August 30, 2010 by Dangerous Dave

At 4:20 Monday morning I was woken up, by something.  Could've sworn is was a loud noise but after some investigation I couldn't find any evidence as to what it could be.

So, without something concrete I've been forced to make some guesses.

Here's a few things that might've made the noise that woke me up.

Crazy Homeless Person

I know Sheboygan doesn't have a very large homeless population.  There isn't people sleeping on sidewalks or anything but I did spot a person snoozing in their car this morning.

 Destiny the Cat

She may look innocent enough but believe me, it's possible that this feline has a grudge against me.  Maybe it's from that time she snuck out on the deck and I didn't know she was out there until the next morning.

Paranormal Activity Entity

I know it was only a movie but spirits do exsist and who the hell knows what might be roaming around my apartment in the middle of the night!

And finally.

This Guy

I think that's the scariest possibility!

So, what do you think?

10 Years - Feeding The Wolves Posted August 29, 2010 by Dangerous Dave

I was really surprised to get an advanced copy of this album 2 weeks early!  Usually record labels only send the CD out the Friday before it's release date.  I've since listened to it twice and think it's the band's best work to date.

Feeding the Wolves, the fourth studio effort by the Knoxville, Tennessee group 10 Years, and is their third major label release. It was produced by Grammy-nominated producer Howard Benson and is being released Tuesday, August 31st.

In my honest opinion that this is one of most overlooked bands out there right now! Since first hearing "Wasteland" back in 2005 I've been a big fan and their stuff just gets better and better.

According to the group this is their heaviest material to date and I have to agree.  There's maybe one really slow song on the CD but the rest are either mid or high tempo with a lot of in your face guitar and drums.

The first single is "Shoot It Out" which sets the pace for the rest of the disc.

Besides "Shoot It Out," another song that you'll really want to crank up is called "Dead in the Water."  "Waking Up The Ghost" could be a huge hit for 10 Years if the record label decides to release it as a single and "Fade Into (The Ocean)" ends the album perfectly with the line "Is this the end, or just the beginning?"

Make sure you plan out where to buy Feeding The Wolves because depending on how and where you get it, the album may come with bonus tracks, including acoustic versions of songs and iTunes only tracks.

Sent From My iPhone Posted August 28, 2010 by Dangerous Dave

I have a bit of a dilemma.  How do you feel about people that have the tag "sent from my iPhone" on e-mail messages that were sent from their iPhones?

It comes as the default setting on the iPhone but now I'm starting to think it's a bit pretentious.

Comedian Mike Birbiglia recently said on Twitter, "Sent from my iphone" is the new "my other car is a Porsche."

Here's some other stuff he "tweeted" about the iPhone.

"Sent from my iphone" = "I'd like to have a brief, impersonal chat. Also, i have more money than you."

"Sent from my AT&T Blackberry" = "I'd like to be a douche-bag but I can't afford it."

"Sent from my iphone" is a way of saying, "We both have access to computers but yours is in a public library somewhere."

So what do you think?  Am I being too self-important by keeping that on all of my outgoing messages?  It's not like I can't change it.  Should there even be a phrase like it and if so, what?

Tell me what you think in the comment area below.

Thanks for reading!

It's Madonna The Dog Posted August 26, 2010 by Dangerous Dave

Every Thursday morning Carey from the Sheboygan County Humane Society comes in and we record the weekly Pet Talk segment which airs after Bob and Tom on Friday.  Today she brought in what I thought was a horse at first.  Turns out it was a very large St. Bernard mix by the name of Madonna!

She is a very lovable 5 year-old who needs a home!  Click HERE for more details or HERE to listen to the Pet Talk podcast.

I Need To Know Who This Is NOW!!! Posted August 25, 2010 by Dangerous Dave

I am not a sports fan.  Sure, during football seaons it's nice to see my hometown Vikings play once in a while.  And, it was awesome to be at both Minnesota Twins World Series appearances but I'm not the kind of guy to bring up sports in a regular conversation.

Butt, I mean but, this picture may make me change my viewing habits.

First, I need to find out who this georgous creature is then follow whatever team/sports she covers regularly.  What's her "beat?"

If you know  the identity of this person, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE leave her name in the comment section below.

Thank you.

I have since found out who this is.  She's a reporter by the name of Ines Sainz who works for the Mexican television network TV Azteca.

Alex Debogorski Posted August 23, 2010 by Dangerous Dave

I get to interview Alex Debogorski!  Or depending on when you're reading this, I did interview Alex Debogorski.

And, just in case you don't know who Alex Debogorski is, let's find out together.

His claim to fame is being on the History Channel show Ice Road Truckers.  Alex has appeared on all 4 seasons of the program.

Ice Road Truckers follows drivers who haul vital supplies to diamond mines and other remote locations over frozen lakes that double as roads.

Alex is a legend in the Ice Road trucking community.  2007 marked his 26th year as an Ice Road trucker. Debogorski is the father of eleven children, has seven grandchildren.

In Season 2 of Ice Road Truckers he had to leave early because of a pulmonary embolism.

Alex has since recovered from his illness and when he's not being filmed for the TV show tours around the world.  He's coming to our area to appear at the Manitowoc County Fair.

He's also got a book coming out this fall.

Please be listening tomorrow (8/24/10) sometime between 11 a.m. and noon as I talk to Alex Debogorski on the air.

Apocalyptica - 7th Symphony Review Posted August 22, 2010 by Dangerous Dave

Over the weekend I checked out the advanced copy of Apocalyptica's new album 7th Symphony, which is being released in the U.S. on Tuesday.  Obviously the title refers to it being the band's 7th CD.

And, in case you don't know the history of the band, they are three cellists and a drummer from Finland who first got famous by doing renditions of Metallica tunes.  They eventually started recording their own songs and, for the past couple of albums have sprinkled in guest vocalists, including Corey Taylor of Slipknot/Stone Sour and Adam Gontier.  That was on the last release, Worlds Collide.

For this new disc they recruited Gavin Rossdale of Bush, Shinedown's Brent Smith, Lacey Mosley from Flyleaf and a French singer by the name of Joe Duplantier, who's in a band called Gojira.

1. "At the Gates of Manala" - 7:03

2. "End of Me" (ft. Gavin Rossdale of Bush) - 3:23

3. "Not Strong Enough" (ft. Brent Smith of Shinedown) - 3:36

4. "2010" (ft. Dave Lombardo of Slayer) - 4:32

5. "Beautiful" - 2:19

6. "Broken Pieces" (ft. Lacey Mosley of Flyleaf) - 3:55

7. "On the Rooftop With Quasimodo" - 5:00

8. "Bring Them to Light" (ft. Joe Duplantier of Gojira) - 4:42

9. "Sacra" - 4:22

10. "Rage of Poseidon" - 8:49

I don't know how they do it but each singer seems to be the perfect person for the song they're featured on.  Maybe they write the music with a certain vocalist in mind, and the key they sing in.

This album seems to be richer than their previous effort with additional layers being added.

If you don't think you'll like it because of the cellos, not to worry because most times there's no way of telling that they're using the classical music instrument.  You would swear they are playing the traditional bass and guitars.

Also, if you're not keen on instrumentals, give one at least 60 seconds of your time.  You may find yourself mesmerized as I did!

p.s.  Slayer fans might like the track called "2010" because it features Dave Lombardo

Louder Than A Subway Posted August 20, 2010 by Dangerous Dave

The new Sun Chips bags are loud. REALLY loud.

They're biodegradable, and because so, are also more “crispy and crunchy”.   People who have experienced the the crinkling bag say it sounds like a “revving motorcycle."

One Air Force pilot went so far as to make a video in which he measures the crackling of the bag at 95 decibels and calls it louder than his jet cockpit.

Here's another one testing the bag against a chainsaw.

OSHA requires hearing protection at 90 decibels.

Here are a few things that are less than 95 decibels, just for comparison.

90 - Subway and farm tractor.

85 - Applause in Auditorium and lawn mower.

80 - Vacuum Cleaner.

75 - Alarm clock and barking dog.

Well, you probably get the point.

A spokesperson says the company is looking into the packaging as a potential reason for declining sales, but for now, signs are going up at store displays: “Yes, the bag is loud, that's what change sounds like.”
